CALADO IS THE NEW AFSL PRESIDENT
Mr. Anthony Paul M. Calado, LPT
The Board of Trustees of the Asian Federation of Student Leadership appointed Mr. Anthony Paul M. Calado, LPT as the new AFSL President starting Academic Year 2022-2023.
Mr. Calado is the School Principal of Stonyhurst Southville International School (SSIS) - Batangas City Campus, a post he has held since 2013. Cocurrently, he is the school's Head of Human Resources, PR & Marketing, and the ISO Quality Management Representative (QMR). He was the School Principal of the SSIS - Malarayat Campus from 2010-2013, and the High School Deputy Principal of Southville International School and Colleges from 2003-2010 where he also served as an International Baccalaureate (I.B.) Diploma Program Coordinator and Creativity, Action, and Service (C.A.S.) Coordinator from 2005-2007. Besides being an Award Leader for the Duke of Edinburgh International Award Program, he's been appointed Present of the Asian Federation of Student Leaders (AFSL) and has served four times as a Member of a Visiting Team of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), U.S.A. to accredit international schools around the world.
As the new president, Calado emphasized the role of AFSL in developing leaders who will be the catalyst of transformational change, and take on a more meaningful relevance in a world that is constantly in conflict and chaos. The AFSL Secretariat welcomes Mr. Calado together with his leadership initiatives that will be launched during his term.
AFSL CONVENTION HIGHLIGHTS
GLOBAL LEADERS AS CATALYST OF
TRANSFORMATIONAL CHANGE
Asian Federation of Student Leaders, together with SISC College Student Ambassadors, spearheaded the annual AFSL Leadership Convention with the theme Global Student Leaders: A Catalyst for Transformational Change last May 4. The convention was delivered in hybrid format marking the first in-person AFSL convention after the pandemic.
The convention featured leadership sessions from a keynote address given by Hon. Michael Ang, Consul ah. of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. This was followed by a plenary session on the Qualitites of a Global Leader as an Agent of Transformational Change by Ms. Anne Drea Camus of De Montfort University, United Kingdom. Participants were able to join different advocacy skill workshops in the afternoon through a workshop session on impromptu speaking, micro-vlogging, and poster making led by Ms. Joice Guinihin, Subject Area Head for English in Stonyhurst Southville International School Batangas.
The convention was concluded by awarding best student outputs in respective workshops and by introducing the new AFSL Student Council Officers.
